Currently there is only a 'developing the definitions and reverse engineering the software' forum (paraphrasing the purpose of the forum), so it can be a little difficult for a person to come up with all of the necessary information to setup RomRaider and start using it to tune his or her Bimmer.
One downside of RomRaider for us Bimmer fans is that so far there hasn't been an actual tuning forum for it yet. This is a bit of work though, since you normally have to move over the data from a lot of your maps into the 41.2 tune (.BIN file). Still, the 41.2 is considered to be the best of the bunch, and many people who have lower numbered versions of DMEs flash the entire 41.2 tune into their DME to gain its features. The DME MS41.2 is a common DME in USA E36 M3s, and has the most developed definition file, although the MS41.1 ID60 and a couple of other versions are not too far behind. RomRaider needs individual 'Definition' files for different versions of ECUs or in our case 'DMEs,' see below.ĭifferent DME versions' definition files are developed to differing levels of completion because the coding in them is different (but similar in many cases I guess), and therefore they require individual reverse engineering efforts to develop. Luckily for us, not too long ago some geniuses who like E36 M3s started developing the definitions for the MS41 series of DMEs (41.0, 41.1, and 41.2). The basic RomRaider tuning interface software also includes an additional datalogger screen, and some very advanced functionality with it, but more on the logger function later. Engine tuning is accomplished by modifying the data stored in the bin. Split Second supplies the xdf, starting bin and adx files which can be found in the Downloads section of this site. There is a wealth of information about how to use TunerPro on their site and in the Help section of the program. We strongly recommend that you register and make the requested donation to support future enhancements to TunerPro RT. The non-RT version does not support real-time data.
The software can be downloaded for free at. Adx files specify the real-time data and dashboard functions. Bin files store the data that is used to tune the engine.
Xdf files define the parameters that can be adjusted and their memory locations. It uses three types of files to operate, xdf (definition files) bin (binary data files) and adx (data acquisition files). TunerPro RT is a very flexible and powerful user interface for engine tuning.
